Inspired by camping wild..

We are Adam and Lou, and we moved here in 2012 with our young family. For many years we dreamed of creating simple, unique places to stay in a beautiful location - inspired by summers spent camping surrounded by nature. We love being outdoors and wanted to create a place with minimal impact, made with care and thoughtful design.

As custodians of Llwynbwch, conserving the land for nature is our primary aim. The barn, cabins and shepherds hut are part of our farm and deeply-rooted in the local rural community. The site is kept intentionally small to offer guests privacy, space, and opportunities to be alone in nature.

Sustainable Tourism

We’ve worked hard to minimise our carbon footprint by making informed decisions on energy use, sourcing low-impact building materials locally, and always using renewable energy providers.

Guests are encouraged to compost, recycle, and make use of eco-friendly cleaning products. Laundry is done in-house and air-dried naturally.

“Eco-warriors will be impressed with the green credentials at this former dairy farm which has been dedicated to conservation for the past 20 years.”

Our Impact

  • A black-and-white line drawing map of the United States with a white rectangle covering part of the central-south region.

    Green Travel

We encourage guests to travel by train, bike, or electric vehicle when possible, offering a booking discount for those who do.

  • A black and white political cartoon showing a figure dressed as Uncle Sam with his mouth wide open and the words 'The Free World' labeled on his shirt, shouting into a large trash can labeled 'Recycling' as a person jumps in with a group labeled 'Suicide'.

    Carbon Footprint

We are proud that the carbon footprint for their cabins is just 1.0kg CO2e per cabin per night, far below the national average for UK hotels of 14.9kg CO2 per bedroom per night

    Think Local

We always recommend local places to visit, explore, eat and drink - and have an honesty shop that stocks seasonal food products from wonderful local suppliers.

    Sustainably Sourced

All firewood for use in Llwynbwch Barn, Hafan, Derwen cabins, Ty Mawr, and our own home is sustainably sourced from the woodlands at Llwynbwch

Who gives a crap?

We are proud members of Green Key, collaborate with Live Frankly and were awarded Silver Sustainable Tourism Business at the 2018/19 Carmarthenshire Tourism Awards. All toilets on-site use ‘Who Gives a Crap’ toilet paper, and the facilities are Toilet Twinned through the charity Toilet Twinning.

Adam, co-owner and eco-builder

“I’ve been a sound engineer for many years and have long dreamed of living sustainably in a beautiful place with my family. I love meeting guests and sharing tips on places to visit, eat and drink locally. I’ve also loved creating off-grid places to stay here at Llwynbwch - sourcing fallen timber from the land, working with local craftspeople and making sure it all sits lightly on the land. ”

Lou , co-owner and creative inspiration and feeder of ponies

“I’m originally an artist and art educator, taking inspiration from nature and the world around me - so it’s been a dream to design and create beautiful places to stay, prioritising nature, and seeing how much people love it here. Managing the land sustainably gives me huge joy - we have created new habitats and put nature first - and brought far more diversity back than I ever thought possible.”

Thoughtful design.

Informed decisions.

“A model for

low impact tourism.”
