Caban Derwen

Derwen Cabin's timber deck with blue metal table and 2 chairs, with blankets, table laid with wildflowers, with two bottles of beer and tea lights in coloured glassholders. The post and rail of the deck with green setting beyond.

Your cabin hideaway

Derwen is located on the edge of a thriving wildflower meadow, with fabulous sweeping views over the landscape. ‘Derwen’ is the Welsh for oak, and set under a mature oak tree, the cabin is completely secluded and surrounded by wildlife and nature. Hand-built using natural, local and recycled materials, it has every comfort with a deck and fire pit to make the most of the idyllic setting. If you’re lucky you may well wake up to the sight of deer grazing in the morning!

Derwen can sleep up to 2 adults and 2 children and guests have access to Tŷ Mawr - a beautifully designed shared space with fully fitted kitchen, dining and lounge area, and two luxurious private shower rooms with composting loos.

Sunrise outside Derwen, the cabin cladding dark in the shadow with a bright sun coming up over the hills and leafy branches framing the scene from above.

About Tŷ Mawr

A short walk from the central yard is Tŷ Mawr - a space shared with Hafan and Onnen - where you’ll find a large living area with fully equipped kitchen, a dining area and a cosy place to relax in front of a wood burner after a day of exploring. Much of the furniture has been handmade by us with timber from our land.

Rainfall shower anyone?

There are two luxurious shower rooms with rainfall heads and plentiful piping hot water. The toilets are twinned with Toilet Twinning who fund global community projects helping families to build their own basic toilet, access clean water and learn about hygiene – a vital combination that saves lives.

Outside, the deck is surrounded by nature, perfect for watching the sunset with a glass in hand, or head to the fire pit for evening star gazing and marshmallow toasting.

There’s a small honesty shop where you can buy Bydafau honey from Llwynbwch’s hives, along with seasonal chutneys and jams when available.

Tŷ Mawr provides a wonderful place to relax, cook and connect with other guests on the site.
